Manchester City are up a man and now level with Chelsea in the Community Shield, thanks to an excellent goal by Yaya Toure. The former clattering defensive midfielder has reinvented himself over the last couple of years as the world's premier box-to-box midfielder, and he showed off his wide range of skills with his 53rd minute finish, leveling the match at 1-1.
Things got started with a cross by James Milner, which was blocked in an unfortunate manner for the Chelsea defense, and deflected into a dangerous position. John Terry attempted to clear the ball but couldn't get it past Toure. The Ivorian took a fantastic first touch to get himself into space, then hit a perfect shot past Petr Cech at the near post. Generally, it's the keeper's fault if he gets beat at his near post, but in this case Toure's shot was exquisite and virtually unstoppable.
