The Twins' third baseman, who's also played almost everywhere else on the diamond this season, is back from a DL stint.

Twins third baseman -- well, sort of, more on that later -- Trevor Plouffe was having a breakout season, hitting .259/.330/.525 with 19 home runs in 259 at-bats, when he went down with a thumb injury that was supposed to be day-to-day. Those days added up to 24 and a stint on the disabled list, but now Plouffe is back:

Nishioka has been quite a disappointment for the Twins since they signed him to a three-year, $10 million contract with a fourth-year option. He's had just 12 at-bats for the Twins this year, without a hit.

Finally, I wrote "sort of" third baseman, because Plouffe has played all four infield positions for the Twins this season, as well as left and right field. He's primarily played third base -- 53 games -- and the Twins will welcome his bat back into the lineup.
