Suspended WR Da'Rick Rogers May Have Failed Tennessee Drug Test

Stay connected with SB Nation

A failed drug test may be the cause for the indefinite suspension of Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad -- though other reporters are not sure that's the case. There has been no official word on the reason.

Earlier Thursday, Tennessee coach Derek Dooley announced the indefinite suspension of last year's First-Team SEC honoree. Rogers has not been kicked off the team, though, and Dooley did not rule out a return this season. But because of recent events and past of-the-field issues, Rogers probably has a long way to go before a comeback is possible.

The loss of Rogers is a huge one for the Volunteers, who got 1,040 receiving yards from the 6-foot-3, 206-pound wide-out last season. Junior college transfer Cordarrelle Patterson and junior Justin Hunter will try to replace Rogers' production.
