Barcelona Vs. Real Madrid, 2012 Spanish Super Cup: Pedro Forces Save

Stay connected with SB Nation

A save! It's Barcelona on the attack again, and Pedro finds himself near the top of the box with zero passing options on. So he decides to shoot, and it's a cracker, struck well and with enough dip that it's heading under the bar until Iker Casillas intervenes to tip it over. From the corner, Lionel Messi nearly finds Gerard Pique with a back post cross, but Real Madrid are able to break it up and eventually escape the pressure when Sami Khedira spins around and falls over in the general vicinity of Xavi, which is apparently a foul now.

The visitors make the most of the reprieve, however, earning a corner which ends up getting recycled by Jose Callejon. Mesut Ozil's second attempt is immensely dangerous, and forces Victor Valdes to punch clear under heavy pressure from Karim Benzema. That was exciting, but we're still scoreless here.
