Barcelona have their first lead of the match and it is through Lionel Messi, of course. The Argentinian slotted home a penalty after Andres Iniesta was fouled in the box by Sergio Ramos to give the home side a 2-1 lead in the 71st minute of the Spanish Super Cup first leg.
It was a clever bit of play by Iniesta to draw the penalty as he showed Ramos the ball while sprinting down the right then turned quickly, but more blame will go to Ramos than credit to Iniesta. It was a stupid challenge by Ramos as he had no reason to go diving in with Iniesta near the endline. Iniesta couldn't really challenge the goal from where he was and Ramos was in a fine position, but less-than-intelligent challenges are not rare with Ramos.
Messi stepped to the spot calmly and sent Iker Casillas the wrong way to easily find the net. Barcelona have now scored consecutive goals to go from a goal down to a goal up, delighting the Camp Nou crowd and infuriating Jose Mourinho in the visitor's dugout.
