The Chargers and 49ers close out the preseason in San Francisco
The final game of the NFL preseason will have the San Diego Chargers visiting the San Francisco 49ers. The Chargers are undefeated so far through three preseason games while San Francisco is 2-1 after winning at Denver last week.
Both teams are expected to give the main starters little time as the final roster cuts will be made after the game. It will be one last chance for those fighting for a roster spot to make an impression. For the 49ers, there appears to be a battle shaping up for No. 3 quarterback:
One of the things we were waiting to see in today's game is who would enter as the number three quarterback. Coach Harbaugh had said Colin Kaepernick would be number two, but would not commit to number three. After some solid play by Colin Kaepernick, Scott Tolzien got the call ahead of Josh Johnson.
San Diego will likely be without first round pick Melvin Ingram:
The injury occurred on a running play away from Ingram, but it appeared that the man blocking Ingram fell and his helmet connected with Melvin's thigh. He's projected to miss Thursday's game against the 49ers in San Francisco, but it looks like he'll be alright for Week 1 against Oakland.
