Saer Sene opened the scoring in the fourth minute then Rauwshan McKenzie put the ball in his own net to double the New England lead in the 11th minute. Sene then added a second goal in the 21st minute with a strike from 25 yards and the match was done, kaput, over. Or so the thinking went.
Joseph did not subscribe to that thinking, though. The New England icon, who was just traded away by the Revs to Chivas earlier this year got on the end of a corner kick and headed home just two minutes after Sene scored to make it a 3-1 game.
That 3-1 scoreline looked like it would hold until halftime, but Joseph notched a second in first half stoppage time. He stepped into a pass and hit the ball first time from 20 yards. Matt Reis didn't have a chance as the ball curled around him into the net and Chivas were within one.
It didn't take long in the second half for Chivas to get even either. Juan Agudelo took a throw-in down the right, turned and crossed all the way to the back post for Casey Townsend. The rookie then nodded back across goal for Bolanos, who smashed the ball past Reis for the equalizer.
Chivas had made the comeback to get even and would have won the match too if it wasn't for some great goalkeeping by Reis. He made fine saves on Juan Pablo Angel and Agudelo in one sequence when it looked like Chivas would sure get a winner. Still, from 3-0 down to one point, Chivas had themselves a great night in New England.
