It seems Uruguay international Gaston Ramirez has finally gotten his wish: to be free of Bologna and on to a club in England. The winger has been demanding a move away from the rossoblu for months, and Southampton has been in the mix for the past few weeks. Now, reports out of Italy suggest that the deal is all but complete, with only the signatures being needed on the contracts.
Former decent players from Italian clubs have had a tough time adjusting to the Premier League, however -- see Alberto Aquilani for a recent example. And with nearly everyone on the Saints' current roster being from England, let's hope Ramirez's English is up to snuff. Otherwise, he might be soon regretting this move of which he's been dreaming about for so long.
As for Bologna, they're already moving on. They've just signed Michele Pazienza, who's spent the last two seasons with Napoli, Juventus and Udinese.
