Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that their left winger/left back and Great Britain Olympic team member Danny Rose will be leaving White Hart Lane to spend the season on loan at Sunderland. The Black Cats shipped out Kieran Richardson earlier in the day and bring in a younger player who fills essentially the same role, as a versatile left-sided player who can play as either an attacking fullback or as a defensively sound winger.
Rose should start the year as a backup, but potentially as a key substitute for Sunderland. They're currently loaded with talent that can play on the wings, so Rose is more likely to see playing time at left back than he is at left wing. Tottenham have kept Kyle Naughton in their squad after he had a successful loan spell at Norwich City last season, meaning Tottenham have adequate cover for Benoit Assou-Ekotto and were willing to send Rose out on loan.
