It's been speculated about for days now, but Bologna have finally confirmed: Alberto Gilardino has completed his transfer from Genoa. But you're forgiven if you didn't even realise he was with Genoa -- the Italian international penned a four year contract with the rossoblu and managed just five appearances. The forward is better known for his 3+ years with Fiorentina, where he scored 48 goals, including 19 in the 2008-2009 season.
Obviously his new rossoblu side are hoping that they can recreate the 30-year-old's halcyon days. Unable to score last weekend against Chievo Verona, Bologna are perhaps a wee bit desperate, looking anywhere for some goals.
Fans of Ciro Immobile are likely applauding such a move. With Gilardino -- who sat out a one-match ban last week against Cagliari -- out of the picture, the young Italian will have more opportunities to develop. Losing Gilardino will likely not be a cause for many tears 'round Genoa.
