Team USA looked like it might be en route to another impressive second half performance, considering how solid they looked heading into halftime of Wednesday afternoon's game against the Australian national team. The Aussies had different ideas, however, as they hit a couple of big shots to keep things relatively close through three quarters of play.
Relatively is obviously the key term, however, as Team USA still takes a double-digit lead into the final stanza. It's a lot closer than expected, though, with an 84-70 difference on the scoreboard after both teams scored 28 points in the third quarter.
Deron Williams followed up on his solid second quarter to lead Team USA with 15 points, while Kevin Durant trails close behind with 14 points of his own, as he continues to show just how difficult it is to guard a guy that can shoot as well as he can.
As far as the Aussies are concerned, they're still led by Patty Mills' 19 points. He's now got some competition for top honors in that department as Joe Ingles has matched him with 19 tallies of his own.
