The first week of the NFL preseason schedule will feature an in-state rivalry as the Pittsburgh Steelers head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles have a long-standing rivalry considering the two NFL teams share the same state. That rivalry likely won't be quite as heated as it usually is when the squads face off on Thursday night, however, considering its only the first week of the preseason.
Regardless of all of the potential story lines that would happen during the regular season -- Michael Vick vs. Ben Roethlisberger, anyone? -- the big battle to look forward to this week will be that of the teams' respective first round picks. The Eagles traded up to take defensive tackle Fletcher Cox with the No. 12 pick in this year's draft and, on the other side of the ball, former Stanford standout guard David DeCastro will be waiting.
Oh, and for those out there watching this game because there's money on the line rather than how well the rookies perform, the latest NFL odds indicate that the Eagles are 3-point favorites.
