The Packers and Chargers begin preseason play Thursday in San Diego.
Fresh off a 15-1 regular season that resulted in a first-round playoffs defeat, the Green Bay Packers will open their preseason schedule Thursday against the San Diego Chargers.
Green Bay finished third in passing yards per game last season and with the majority of key components on offense returning, they should once again be a dangerous passing team. Reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is fresh off a career-best season that saw him throw for 4,643 yards and 45 touchdowns.
On the other side, the Chargers begin their preseason looking to return to the postseason after missing out the last two seasons. Philip Rivers and Ryan Mathews return, but San Diego will have to replace leading receiver Vincent Jackson who signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent. Getting Antonio Gates healthy would be a good first step. Gates has missed nine games over the last two seasons including three last season.
