USF Football: Sterling Griffin Done For 2012 Due To Knee Injury

South Florida junior wide receiver Sterling Griffin is out for the 2012 season after suffering a knee injury in the Bulls' 32-31 win over Nevada Sept. 8.

South Florida coach Skip Holtz confirmed via Twitter junior wide receiver Sterling Griffin will miss the 2012 season due to a knee injury.

Griffin injured his right knee during South Florida's 32-31 win over Nevada Saturday. Griffin watched the second half on crutches as teammate Andre Davis caught a school-record 12 passes, including a game-winning 56-yard touchdown with 38 seconds left in the game.

Griffin missed the 2010 season with an ankle injury, and missed four games in 2011 with a broken foot. He had two catches for 42 yards and a touchdown in South Florida's season-opening win over Chattanooga Sept. 1.

In 23 career games for the Bulls, he has 59 catches for 837 yards and six touchdowns.

South Florida is 2-0 on the year, and will take on Rutgers in Big East action at 7:30 p.m. ET Thursday.
