Florida defensemen Erik Gudbranson had shoulder surgery Sept. 6 in Miami, and is expected to make a full recovery, Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon said in a statement released Monday. The statement did not include information on the extent of the injury, or the amount of time he may miss.
The Sun-Sentinel reported he Gudbranson was injured while training at the team's facility, and its source classified it as a "bad" injury, and one that could keep him out for four months. In the event of an owners lockout, they wouldn't be able to keep in contact with Gudbranson during his rehabilitation.
Gudbranson, the team's first round draft pick in 2010 (third overall) played in 72 games last season, his first year in the NHL.
