UEFA World Cup qualifying was onto matchday two on Tuesday with a couple big match-ups in the mix. Here are the results:
Serbia 6-1 Wales
Serbia came flying out of the gates with two early goals, but Wales scored to make things interesting. It wasn't interesting for long, though. The Serbs destroyed Wales the rest of the way and by the time it was over, they had six different goal scorers and a valuable three points as they try to keep pace with Belgium and Croatia.
Scotland 1-1 Macedonia
The Scots were always going to have a tough time getting out of this group. After drawing their first two matches, they're probably done.
Bulgaria 1-0 Armenia
Stanislav Manolev netted the only goal in this one as Bulgaria got a key three points, but against an Armenia team down to nine men by the end, a win was a must.
Sweden 2-0 Kazakhstan
Sweden have players not named Zlatan Ibrahimovic! You might have forgotten that at Euro 2012, but goals by Ramus Elm and Marcus Berg powered them today.
Romania 4-0 Andorra
This isn't a great Romania team, but it's a lot better than Andorra. Gabriel Torje and Costin Lazar scored the first two goals before two in stoppage time made the scoreline look silly.
Turkey 3-0 Estonia
After falling 2-0 to the Netherlands on Friday, Turkey needed to bounce back and that is exactly what they did. A goal just before halftime turned a nervy scoreless start into a match Turkey were in control off before they poured it on in the second half.
Cyprus 1-0 Iceland
That's nice for Cyprus.
After Slovenia went ahead early, Markus Henriksen answered. The match looked bound for a draw, but John Arne Riise's goal five minutes into stoppage time delivered Norway a key win.
Switzerland 2-0 Albania
Xherdan Shaqiri showed why he is the best Swiss player with an opening goal and the fantastic Gokhan Inler added a penalty to seal off an easy win.
Israel 0-4 Russia
Israel has given good teams tough matches before, especially in Israel, but Russia apparently doesn't care. They destroyed the Israels in every way possible. Fabio Capello's reign is off to a good start.
Northern Ireland 1-1 Luxumbourg
So that happened.
Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 Latvia
Zvjezdan Misimovic scored twice for the home side and Latvia looked like, well, Latvia. As you were.
Slovakia 2-0 Liechtenstein
Marek Sapara and Martin Jakubko each scored in a professional win for Slovakia. Nice and easy, no mess.
Greece 2-0 Lithuania
The Greeks couldn't manage a goal in the first half, but they opened up some and goals by Sotiris Ninis and Kostas Mitroglou delivered them a good win.
San Marino 0-6 Montenegro
Poor San Marino.
Poland 2-0 Moldova
The Poles didn't necessarily impress, but they got all three points. Robert Lewandowski's inability to make a consistent impact has to be a concern. He had one good shot, but was M.I.A. for long stretches.

It took Portugal until the 63rd minute to score at home against Azerbaijan. If that sounds bad, that's because it is bad, but A Selecção weren't quite as awful as that indicates. Before that first goal, they hit the post four times, with Cristiano Ronaldo striking it twice.
Once they turned in that first goal, things calmed down for Paulo Bento's men and they turned in a couple more. Both Portugal and Russia will be heading into their massive qualifying match with perfect records after Portugal pulled off a 3-0 win on Tuesday.
Varela scored the opening goal, cleaning up a bit of a mess in front of the goal. Just seconds after he entered the match, the substitute finished a deflected cross from close range to put his team ahead. Helder Postiga expanded his team's lead in the 85th minute by poking home a Ronaldo cross, and Bruno Alves completed the comfortable win with a header off a corner kick in the 88th.

Malta don't really present much of a challenge for anyone, so it shouldn't be surprising that they didn't present much of a challenge for Italy. The Azzurri were in need of a win after their disappointing draw in Bulgaria, and they got it in extremely comfortably fashion on Tuesday evening.
The Azzurri won 2-0, and if that doesn't look dominant, that's because Italy doesn't really do the whole "hang eight goals on poor teams" thing. Mattia Destro scored a stunner in the 5th minute and Italy decided they didn't need to embarrass the poor Maltese side. Riccardo Montolivo set up Destro with a great long ball, and the young striker's finish was perfect.
The Italians dominated, but didn't score again until second half stoppage time. Federico Peluso turned in a ball by Andrea Pirlo to clinch the win for Italy in the 92nd minute, though the ball deflected off Malta's Andrew Cohen, and it might go down as an own goal. Hopefully Peluso isn't robbed of his first national team tally.

England don't like making things easy, do they? After giving Moldova an absolute thumping in the first match of their 2014 World Cup qualification run, the Three Lions put in a poor performance against Ukraine -- at Wembley Stadium , no less -- and were very nearly made to pay the price.
Yes, they were the better side, and spurned chance after chance to score. Yes, the match would have been very different had Jermain Defoe's early goal been allowed to stand rather than being called back for some imaginary foul, or if Tom Cleverley had put away one of his many chances, or if Evgeni Konoplienka hadn't capped his burst around Steven Gerrard in the 39th minute with a sublime finish that fizzed over the defence's collected heads and straight into Joe Hart's top corner.
But all of those things happened and England found themselves down 1-0 at halftime. Then at the hour mark. Then with fifteen minutes to go, then ten. This was a match that the hosts couldn't afford to lose. You can't drop points at home against even the stronger teams in your group and have much hope of qualifying. Fortunately for England, some good substitutions paid off.
Daniel Welbeck had already hit the post (from a cross played in by fellow substitute Daniel Sturridge) by the time he secured England's lifeline, earning a penalty when Yevgen Khacheridi's outstretched arm batted down the ball as the Manchester United strike controlled Ryan Bertrand's volleyed pass. It was up to Frank Lampard to tie the match, and the veteran midfielder slotted home with aplomb.
It was enough to rescue the point, but not England's dignity, the remaining shards of which were wiped off the pitch by Steven Gerrard's dismissal, with the skipper going through the back of Denys Garmash within seconds of Lampard's spot kick finding the back of the net. The Liverpool man, who was lucky to be on the pitch after elbowing Ruslan Rotan in the face in the 54th minute, trudged off in disgrace. The rest of the team followed him shortly thereafter.

Through 45 minutes of their match on Tuesday, France looked like the same boring side that has failed to play up to their talent level since around 2007. In the second half, they turned on the style and scored three goals in a 3-1 victory over Belarus.
Etienne Capoue got France on the board in the 49th, finishing off a cross by Franck Ribery, who was played in behind the defense by Cristophe Jallet. In the 69th minute, the right back scored a goal of his own on a freak shot that actually appeared to be a cross.
Belarus surprisingly got back into the game just a couple of minutes later when Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa gave away a penalty. Sergei Kornilenko missed the penalty, but Anton Poutilo was able to score on the follow-up.
Unfortunately for the visitors, they wouldn't remain in the match for very long. Ribery sealed France's win in the 80th minute, scoring an absolutely brilliant goal that featured a weaving run through the defense and a chipped finish.

Germany still haven't figured out exactly what they should do in midfield when they don't have a fit and in-form Bastian Schweinsteiger, but they were good enough to grab all three points on Tuesday. Austria certainly made things hard from them in Vienna and Die Mannschaft didn't look anything like the team that easily breezed through Euro 2012 qualifying, but they did what they needed to do to snatch a 2-1 win.
Marco Reus opened the scoring at the end of a very frustrating first half with a fantastic individual effort in the 44th minute. Just like the match against the Faroe Islands on Friday, he took the ball into the box by himself, found a shooting lane between two defenders and placed a great shot past the keeper to put his side ahead.
Shortly after the break, Thomas Müller drew a foul on Veli Kavlak in the box, and Mesut Özil converted from the spot to put Germany on top. They fell asleep soon afterwards, perhaps a bit too comfortable in their lead. Austria got back into the match in the 57th minute, when Marko Arnautovic hit a perfect cross for Zlatko Junuzovic, who headed home.
The rest of the match was rather uneventful, but Austria threatened goal more than Germany in the final half hour. Manuel Neuer was forced into a couple of saves, but made them comfortably to preserve Germany's win.

Croatia solidified their position in Group A with a 1-1 draw against Belgium at the Koning Boudewijn Stadion, getting a point from perhaps their most difficult fixture of the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign. They could very easily have earned a win, too, especially after going ahead in the sixth minute via Borussia Dortmund's Ivan Perisic, who mopped up a loose clearance with a precise finish past Thibaut Courtois.
But the visitors never really had control of the match, and Belgium cranked up the pressure throughout the first half. They could have equalised twice over through Christian Benteke, but the striker blew a pair of clear-cut chances and Croatia were able to keep the rest of Belgian's attackers more or less at bay. That didn't stop right back Guillaime Gillet from levelling during first-half stoppage time with a 25-yard thunderbolt following a corner.
The second half saw plenty of Belgium pressure coming to nothing, despite the introductions of Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Miralles, and it was actually Croatia who had the best chance to snatch another pair of points only to see Domagoj Vida head wide with the goal at his mercy as time ticked away.

The Netherlands' new players still haven't completely settled in, but Louis van Gaal will be happy with the performance that his team put in on Tuesday. Jordy Clasie still looked very much like a youngster and gave away a penalty, but he mostly performed well, along with Holland's young defense, in a 4-1 victory over Hungary.
The Oranje took the lead early off of a great header by Jermain Lens, who was a late addition to the squad when Arjen Robben picked up an injury in warm-ups. Luciano Narsingh set him up with a beautiful cross in the 3rd minute, and Lens applied the finish.
Just five minutes later, Hungary were surprisingly level. Clasie took down Zoltan Gera in the penalty area and Balazs Dzsudzsak stepped up to bury the penalty. Unfortunately for the home side, that would be the highlight of the match for them. It turned into a rout shortly afterwards.
Bruno Martins headed in a free kick by Wesley Sneijder in the 19th minute and it was all Netherlands until the end of the match. Lens completed a brace by capitalizing on a poor header by Akos Elek shortly after halftime and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar came off the bench to score the fourth goal of the afternoon, assisted by Lens.

It took until the 86th minute for them to find the back of the net, but Spain were able to avoid embarrassment with a late goal in Tuesday. For 85 minutes, Georgia held them at bay and held onto a 0-0 draw, but Roberto Soldado eventually struck the winner to preserve a long winning streak in major tournament qualifying matches for the Spaniards.
The win is Spain's 23rd consecutive victory in qualifying matches for major tournaments. They were a perfect 8-0-0 in Euro 2012 qualifying and 10-0-0 in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. In Euro 2008 qualifying, they won their last four matches following an away draw to Iceland.
Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Loria made a couple of absolutely brilliant stops on long shots by David Silva and Xavi in the first half, but had to be removed due to an injury in the second half. Though it was hardly his fault, backup Roin Kvaskhvadze couldn't prevent Soldado from scoring the late winner on a great assist by substitute Cesc Fabregas.

Israel didn't put up much of a fight on Tuesday and allowed Russia to roll over them in Tel-Aviv. The visitors took the lead early and never looked back in a comfortable 4-0 rout.
Alexander Kerzhakov got Russia off to a brilliant start in the 7th minute when he scored a direct free kick from 20 yards out. The Russians doubled their lead 11 minutes later through Alexander Kokorin, who cleaned up the mess left by Israeli defenders. They blocked Vladimir Bystrov's effort on a great through ball by Roman Shirokov, but couldn't clear their lines and Kokorin finished off the chance. Unfortunately, Bystrov suffered an injury on the play and had to leave the match.
Russia continued to pile it on in the second half as they added to their tally. Kerzhakov completed a brace with his 64th minute strike, which was followed up by a 77th minute goal by Viktor Fayzulin, who netted his second goal in as many matches for his country.
