Spain kick off their qualifying campaign against Georgia. Poor Georgia.

Writing previews of matches that Spain plays against anyone that is not an elite side seems like a very tedious and pointless exercise. Circle your calendars, because Spain first takes on France in qualifying on October 16. Until then, we will be forced to pretend that the outcome of their matches is not a foregone conclusion. Also, that match is in Spain, so the result of that one is probably also a foregone conclusion.

Of course, Spain could get really bored with beating the snot out of everyone, fall asleep and draw. That's exactly what Georgia will be hoping for on Friday when La Roja rolls into Tbilisi. Youngsters Jano Ananidze and Levan Kenia haven't emerged into footballing saviors, and Georgia's still relying on a lot of decent aging players who play for decent teams.

Hopefully Georgia can keep this scoreless until halftime, nick a second half goal on the counter and make things fun. That's probably not going to happen. It will be pretty stunning if this one isn't over after 30 minutes.
