South Korea are on top of Group A and in excellent position to qualify for the World Cup, but their position became a little less favorable on Tuesday. They were expected to defeat Uzbekistan away, but they didn't fare as well in Tashkent as Iran did. In their second home match of the round, Uzbekistan put up more of a fight and put in a great performance in a 2-2 draw.
Uzbekistan opened the scoring in the 13th minute, on a corner kick. Sanjar Tursunov turned a header on goal during a scramble and it was inadvertently deflected in by Ki Sung-Yeung. It took until the 43rd minute for South Korea to equalize, but they did it in similar fashion. Kwak Tae-Hwi was credited with the goal for a header on target that was turned in by Uzbekistan's Artyon Filiposyan, who might be credited with the own goal when it's all said and done.
The South Koreans took the lead in the 57th minute on a great header by Lee Dong-Gook, who turned in a brilliant cross by Park Joo-Ho. However, their lead lasted just two minutes. Tursunov came up big again for his country, winning a duel with Park in the air to get on the end of a corner by Server Djeparov. The ball dribbled into the net, and somehow the 5'8" midfielder snatched a point for Uzbekistan with two headers on corners.
