Georgia Vs. Spain, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score 1-0 To La Roja

It took until the 86th minute for them to find the back of the net, but Spain were able to avoid embarrassment with a late goal in Tuesday. For 85 minutes, Georgia held them at bay and held onto a 0-0 draw, but Roberto Soldado eventually struck the winner to preserve a long winning streak in major tournament qualifying matches for the Spaniards.

The win is Spain's 23rd consecutive victory in qualifying matches for major tournaments. They were a perfect 8-0-0 in Euro 2012 qualifying and 10-0-0 in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. In Euro 2008 qualifying, they won their last four matches following an away draw to Iceland.

Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Loria made a couple of absolutely brilliant stops on long shots by David Silva and Xavi in the first half, but had to be removed due to an injury in the second half. Though it was hardly his fault, backup Roin Kvaskhvadze couldn't prevent Soldado from scoring the late winner on a great assist by substitute Cesc Fabregas.
