Rangers closer Joe Nathan blows his second save of the season as the Indians rally for three runs in the ninth inning to defeat Texas.

In a span of three batters, Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan blew his first save since April 11 as the Cleveland Indians rallied from a 4-2 deficit to steal a 5-4 victory in Arlington. Center fielder Ezequiel Carrera greeted Nathan with a home run to lead off the ninth inning, and Russ Canzler, pinch-hitting for Brent Lillibridge, followed with a single. Jason Kipnis knocked his 14th homer to give the Indians a one-run edge.

The Rangers' offense was led by Adrian Beltre, who went 2-for-3 despite not being in manager Ron Washington's initial starting lineup, and Michael Young, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Indians DH Carlos Santana and first baseman Matt LaPorta both went 3-for-5.

Indians starter Zach McAllister went six innings, allowing eight hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out six in the no-decision. Rangers starter Derek Holland went seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one, earning a no-decision. Chris Perez converted his 36th save of the season. The loss shrinks the Rangers' lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West to three games.
