The Twins righthander suffered an injury in his last start that will end his 2012 season.

Minnesota Twins righthander Cole DeVries was originally scheduled to start Friday's game against the White Sox.

That now won't happen, because of an injury that's going to put DeVries out for the rest of 2012. Jordan Garretson:

Cole De Vries will miss the rest of the season with a cracked rib, Twins general manager Terry Ryan said on Thursday.

De Vries sustained the injury on a comebacker in his Sept. 8 start against Cleveland. He finished the game, pitching six shutout innings while allowing three hits, but an MRI on Thursday revealed the full extent of the injury.

DeVries had a successful debut season for the Twins, posting a 4.11 ERA in 17 appearances (16 starts), and according to Garretson's article, will be in the mix for the Minnesota rotation in 2013.

Esmerling Vasquez will make the Friday start in DeVries' place and will likely be part of the Twins' rotation for the rest of the season.
