Stuttgart finally picked up their first point of the year in a scoreless draw at home with Fortuna Düsseldorf who still have yet to concede a goal.
Stuttgart came out firing and forced Fabian Giefer into several big saves. He barely kept Stuttgart's Tamas Hajnal from scoring on a shot from distance.
Düsseldorf held their ground and nearly came close themselves, but Australia's Robbie Kruse sent his shot wide of the goal. Then around the 60th minute, Andrey Voronin beat his man, but sent his shot over the crossbar.
Cacau thought he had put Stuttgart up 1-0 in the 66th minute, but Giefer came up with an absolutely spectacular save to keep the match goalless.
Giefer had to come off with ten minutes remaining after a collision, but Stuttgart weren't able to challenge the backup Robert Almer.
Stuttgart will take the point to finally get their campaign started. They've had a rough first two matches. The clean sheet is a welcome addition after giving up 6 goals in their last match against Bayern Munich. For Düsseldorf, they're now sitting on on five points and are unbeaten in their first three matches of the season.
