Freiburg picked up their first Bundesliga win in style on Sunday with an impressive 5-3 victory over Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim got off to a quick start at the Mage Solar Stadion. Matthieu Delpierre scored in the 2nd minute on a free kick from Sebastian Rudy.
Freiburg pushed forward in the attack and were rewarded with an equalizer in the 17th minute from Karim Guede. They continued moving forward and found their lead ten minutes later when Max Kruse headed Julian Schuster's cross past Tim Wiese.
The visitors grabbed an equalizer of their own just before the hour mark when Boris Vukcevic beat Oliver Baumann with a hard, low shot.
Fallou Diagne sent Freiburg back on top at 3-2 on a header from a Schuster cross after Wiese flapped at the ball. Hoffenheim weren't ready to quit and responded eight minutes later in the 76th when Takashi Usami turned on the edge of the box and beat Baumann.
Remarkably, Wiese wasn't content on allowing only three goals in the match. Freiburg took the lead for good in the 83rd minute when Wiese went wandering around on another corner kick. Cedric Makiadi easily beat him to make it 4-3.
Wanting to get in on the "Everyone gets to score against Tim Wiese." game, Sebastian Freis rounded the goalkeeper in the dying minutes to make it 5 goals to 3.
For Hoffenheim, questions will definitely be asked now about the future of manager Markus Babbel. They opened their season with an embarrassing 4-0 defeat in the DFB Pokal against fourth division side Berliner AK. They've now lost their first three matches in the Bundesliga.
