The White Sox beat the Twins behind Jake Peavy and Adam Dunn, push AL Central lead to two games.

The Chicago White Sox pushed their American League Central lead to two games on Sunday afternoon, as right-hander Jake Peavy shut down the Minnesota Twins in a 9-2 victory at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Peavy moved to 11-11 on the season with the well-earned victory, throwing six strong innings while only giving up two runs on four hits. He also recorded six strikeouts.

Twins starter Scott Diamond kept the game close at 3-2 into the sixth inning, but was unable to hold off an offensive explosion from the White Sox. Adam Dunn led off with his 39th home run of the season. Dayan Viciedo added his 21st home run of the year later in the inning, and Dunn would round out the six-run inning with an RBI single in his second at-bat of the frame.

The two game lead ensures that the White Sox will hold onto first place regardless of the outcome of Monday's critical game against the Tigers. The teams were rained out on Thursday night and Monday's game is the scheduled make-up.
