We're underway at the Santiago Bernabeu, where Real Madrid host Manchester City in their first match of this edition of the UEFA Champions League. One can't quite imagine that Cristiano Ronaldo would have expected to play City again in his career, but here we are, and the sad Portuguese superstar has decided to give Maicon a bit of a runaround, skinning the former Inter Milan fullback before blasting a shot just wide of Joe Hart's goal.
Madrid are more or less in control so far, despite a new shape and several personnel changes. City are yet to get a real foothold on the match, although they're defending well and in numbers. Roberto Mancini will be hoping his team can lure the hosts out of their shell and then hit them on the counterattack, but that's easier said than done here.
