Well that's a strange passage of play. Real Madrid, unsurprisingly, are on the attack, but a through ball for Cristiano Ronaldo looks just a little bit overhit. Incredibly, the winger's able to catch up to it under intense pressure from Vincent Kompany, and he plays in a first-time cross with his left foot just as the ball's rolling out of play. Unfortunately for Madrid, Gonzalo Higuain was expecting a near post delivery, and the cross went far, where Gael Clichy is around to mop up.
And then the defender lets Angel di Maria nick the ball off him, eventually conceding a corner. From said corner, the ball falls straight to Pepe, who does... nothing. While in acres of space. Eventually he opts to cross the ball in straight to a Manchester City defender, which has the expected result.
Here's a substitution, by the way: Edin Dzeko for David Silva. Roberto Mancini going for it here, it seems. And why not -- it's still 0-0.
