After going out in the group stage a year ago, Manchester United are back in the Champions League and looking to put last season's embarrassing exit behind them. That begins today when they welcome Galatasaray to Old Trafford.
The defending Turkish Super Lig champions, Galatasaray are no pushover. They are loaded with familiar names like Emmanuel Eboue, Felipe Melo and Hamit Altintop, but they are not a serious threat to United. At least they shouldn't be, but last year proved that everyone is a serious threat.
Sir Alex Ferguson is turning to a fairly normal team, which is unusual for him in Europe. Shinji Kagawa is back in the starting XI after missing the weekend's win over Wigan with a knock and Michael Carrick pair Paul Scholes in the center of the midfield, while Robin van Persie is up top, as expected.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): David De Gea; Patrice Ebra, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Rafael; Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes; Nani, Shinji Kagawa, Antonio Valencia; Robin van Persie.
Galatasaray (4-4-2): Fernando Muslera; Hakan Balta, Dany Nounkeu, Semih Kaya, Emmanuel Eboue; Nordin Amrabat, Felipe Melo, Selçuk Inan, Hamit Altintop; Umut Bulut, Burak Yilmaz.
Kickoff is at 2:45 p.m. ET from Old Trafford. You can catch the game on Fox Soccer Plus in the U.S., Sky Sports 4 in the U.K. and Sportsnet World in Canada.
