Things have gone from bad to worse for Barcelona in the defense. With Carles Puyol already out for awhile with a new knee injury, Carles Puyol has now left Barca's Champions League match with a foot injury in the 12th minute.
It's not clear what the injury is, but Pique appeared to either hurt a bone or ligament in his foot. Just be warned that's a layman's assessment from watching on television, but it doesn't look good. Pique received treatment and hobbled around for a couple minutes before signaling to the sideline for a sub. Alex Song has entered the match and while the formational adjustment isn't yet clear, one expects Sergio Busquets will drop back in to defense alongside Javier Mascherano. Song will replace Busquets in the midfield.
Barca will be fretting the news about Pique's foot in the coming days and potentially lamenting not adding some center back depth in the summer. Fortunately though for today, they're already up 1-0 thanks to Cristian Tello.
