The Carolina Panthers were 3-point underdogs last week and now are 2.5 underdogs against the New York Giants - can they pull off another upset?
The New York Giants have looked shaky in the first two games of their title defense, but they still open as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Carolina Panthers.
Cam Newton is likely salivating about going up against a Giants' defense that hasn't been in top form yet in two games. First, the squad gave up over 300 yards through the air to Tony Romo, who completed over 75 percent of his passes, then Josh Freeman and the Buccaneers put up 34 points including a touchdown on an effortless fourth quarter drive to tie the game. Newton, meanwhile, just lit up New Orleans, as the Panthers scored 35 points in a win over the Saints.
The Panthers kicked off as 3-point underdogs last week against the Saints, so they're in a familiar position. Bettors should note that the total has gone over in six of the last seven matchups between these teams and seven of the last nine times Carolina has taken the field. This week, the over/under starts at 52 points - a total both teams blew away in their matchups last week.
