First round play at the 2012 Tour Championship is underway at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, and Justin Rose is out to a one-stroke lead after posting a 4-under 66 on Thursday afternoon.
Scott Piercy, who held a the top spot of the tournament leaderboard for most of the morning, finished one stroke behind Rose with a 3-under 67. He's currently tied for second place with Matt Kuchar and Bo Van Pelt who are just wrapping up their opening rounds.
Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, who are ranked No.1 and No.2 in the FedEx Cup point standings respectively, are playing together this morning. Woods is off to a better start at 2-under through nine holes, while McIlroy sits at even-par. The pair, along with Nick Watney (3-over) and Phil Mickelson (1-under), round out the top four in the Cup point standings and each golfer has a chance to clinch the Cup crown with a victory.
