Romelu Lukaku has probably earned himself an extended run in the West Bromwich Albion team. He won his side all three points with a second-half goal, and despite looking occasionally a little off the pace his sheer power frightened Reading all match as the Baggies dominated.
It took them far too long, however, to turn their possession into a bona fide lead. WBA were overly elaborate in possession, refusing to play to their strengths, and it took adding another striker for the breakthrough to finally arrive. Shane Long's knockdown teed up Lukaku near the edge of the box, and his low effort wrong-footed Alex McCarthy to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
It was always pretty clear that one goal would be enough, with Reading utterly toothless at the other end of the pitch. And so it proved as the Baggies ended up coasting to victory -- the three points coming with a climb to third place in the Premier League table. It's a nice bounce-back after their comprehensive away defeat at Fulham last weekend, but for Reading, it's yet another disappointing defeat. The Royals have just one point all season.
