FAU fell to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the Sun Belt after losing at home to the Mean Green
The North Texas Mean Green outslugged the Florida Atlantic Owls on Saturday, 20-14, giving North Texas its first Sun Belt win of the season.
Neither team was able to do much offensively and it was a game mostly dominated by the defensive units. In a game like this, less was more on offense, but the Owls were unable to play in that type of mentality. That was largely because the Mean Green took a 10-0 lead into halftime and once held a commanding 17-point lead.
The Owls rattled off 14 unanswered points to get right back into the game, but the Graham Wilbert-led FAU offense was unable to tack on any more points in a home game the team would have loved to take. Instead, the Owls fell to 1-4 on the season, while North Texas improved to 2-3.
Box Score Hero: Brelan Chancellor would not be stopped on Saturday, as the Mean Green wide receiver caught six passes for 135 yards and one touchdown.
Rankings Ramifications: Both teams entered the game unranked and are expected to remain that way even after Mean Green's road victory.
But Did They Cover? North Texas closed as a seven-point favorite and just missed covering the spread by one point, as the Mean Green won by just six points.

Next Week's Schedule: North Texas will now prepare to take on the Houston Cougars at Robertson Stadium while the Owls will also be tested on the road against the ULM Warhawks.
