Mikel Leshoure injury update: Fantasy value solid after news that he'll play

Don McPeak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Mikel Leshoure has been probable with a groin injury and now he is definite. We break down the fantasy implications.

Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure has been on the injury report this week with a groin injury but there is no doubt anymore that he is going to play. Leshoure made his NFL debut and first NFL start last week, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.

Fantasy Take: This news is bad for anyone holding out hope for Kevin Smith, but it would still be hard to drop Smith with Leshoure having shown up on the injury report after his first NFL game and missing his entire rookie season. The Vikings run defense has been good this year, ranking eighth in yards per carry allowed, but Leshoure is a solid RB2 or flex play since the Lions weren't shy about handing him the ball so much in week 4. All other Lions running backs are on hold.
