Colin Clark stood at the penalty spot not long after teammate Brad Davis had his try saved and stared at Nick Rimando. The Real Salt Lake goalkeeper looked unbeatable for 90 minutes, making several incredible saves in a match chock full of great goalkeeping, but Clark finally beat him. Clark converted his penalty in the 94th minute and delivered the only goal of the match as the Houston Dynamo picked up a vital 1-0 win that gives them some safety in the race for a playoff spot.
Both teams were playing without key players who were away on international duty or injured, which made for an ugly match. The teams kicked at, pulled and knocked each other around for most of the match, but things finally got interesting late on.
In the 75th minute, Will Bruin failed to get to a low cross, but a late shove from Chris Schuler after the wall was well gone was enough for the referee to award a penalty. Luckily for Schuler, Romando made a great diving stop of Davis' spot kick and the match stayed level.
That penalty save started the Goalkeepers Show. Tally Hall somehow got a hand to a Nat Borchers header in the 79th minute then Rimando robbed Bruin on a close range header in the 82nd minute. Hall added one more of his own when Ned Grabavoy was played in on goal and Hall came off his line to make a great save when Grabavoy looked sure to score.
But Houston got back to the spot in stoppage time and it was Rimando who put them there. He cam rushing off his line to try to punch a cross in, but he didn't get the ball and just took out Macoumba Kandji. Clark then made the penalty an Houston has three points.
