Guatemala Vs. Antigua and Barbuda, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Carlos Ruiz Scores Twice In Victory

Carlos Ruiz scored twice in the second half and Guatemala scored three unanswered goals to overcome an early deficit with a 3-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda in Friday's 2014 World Cup qualifier. Guatemala pulled even with the United States for second place in CONCACAF's Group A. Both teams sit on four points through the first three games.

Peter Byers gave Antigua and Barbuda some early hope, scoring in the 39th minute for a 1-0 lead that they were were able to take into halftime.

Ruiz brought it even in the 60th minute, though, with an unassisted goal and then gave Guatemala their first lead in the 79th minute. He now has more than 50 goals in his international career.

Guatemala put the game away when Dwight Pezzarossi scored a stoppage time goal off an assist from Marco Pappa.

The two teams will play again on Tuesday in Antigua and Barbuda.

El Salvador Vs. Guyana, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Tie Clears Path For Mexico

El Salvador twice took leads, but couldn't hold either one and was forced to settle for a 2-2 tie with Guyana on Friday in 2014 World Cup qualifying. The result leaves El Salvador in third place in CONCACAF's Group B, two points behind second-place Costa Rica. Mexico has all but locked up a spot in the final six-team group and currently sits on nine points through three matches.

El Salvador jumped out a 1-0 lead on a 4th minute goal from Jose Gutierrez off an assist from Rafael Burgos. After Guyana tied up on the first of Trayon Bobb's two goals in the 16th minute, El Salvador jumped out again in the 29th minute on a goal from Osael Romero that was set up by Gutierrez.

Guyana just wouldn't go away, though, and Bobb tied it up with a goal in the 53rd minute with some help from a Gregory Richardson assist. The goal salvaged Guyana's first point of qualifying, leaving them three points behind Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Vs. Mexico, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score, El Tri Comfortably Wins 2-0

Mexico are all but through to the hexagonal round of qualifying after pulling off an impressive road win against Costa Rica on Friday night, while the Ticos are now in a tough spot and are no lock to make the hex. The Estadio Nacional is not the fortress that the Saprissa once was, and Costa Rica were nowhere near their best in El Tri's 2-0 victory.

However, Mexico were far from perfect as well. They were obviously lacking a little something going forward while playing with two strikers in lieu of a No. 10, thanks to an injury to Giovani dos Santos. They didn't get much going from open play, but were able to execute on two excellent set pieces.

Carlos Salcido tallied the first goal of the match in the 43rd minute off of a corner kick. Andres Guardado supplied the delivery to the near post towards Maza Rodriguez, who flicked the ball back towards the center of the box. Salcido hit a great shot to the back post first time and scored to send his team into the break up a goal.

Mexico made their lead 2-0 shortly after the break through Jesus Zavala, who finished off another Guardado corner kick. Even though El Tri didn't look too creative on the night, their set piece execution was good enough for the victory.

Canada Vs. Panama, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Dwayne DeRosario Leads Way To Win

Dwayne DeRosario's 77th minute goal was enough to give Canada a 1-0 victory over Panama in Friday's 2014 World Cup qualifier. Three games into the third round of this CONCACAF tournament, Canada finds itself atop Group C with 7 points. They are one point ahead of Panama and three points clear of third-place Honduras, who beat Cuba earlier.

Canada got their goal on a quick free kick, slipping behind a seemingly clueless defense as Atiba Hutchinson floated in a ball from the edge of the penalty area and DeRosario was able to tap it in. It was DeRosario's 20th international goal, more than any other player in the country's history.

Up until then, it seemed a safe bet that Canada would leave two points on the table while playing at home in what was virtually a must-win game in order for them to move on to the next round of qualifying. They will need to finish in the top two of the group.

Costa Rica Vs. Mexico, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Lineups

Without Giovani dos Santos available, Jose Manuel de la Torre has decided to change Mexico's formation. He has plenty of depth and quality up top, and has opted to use it. Costa Rica should have their hands full, as both Javier Hernandez and Oribe Peralta get starts up top. The Ticos have plenty of firepower as well, with Joel Campbell and Alvaro Saborio, who should cause problems for Mexico's defense.

Mexico Lineup: Corona; Meza, Rodríguez, Moreno, Torres Nilo; Guardado, Salcido, Zavala, Aquino; Peralta, Hernández

Costa Rica Lineup: Navas; Acosta, González, Umaña, Salvatierra, Oviedo; Cubero, Barantes, Bolaños; Campbell, Saborío

Costa Rica's lineup isn't entirely obvious, but it looks like they'll be playing with three central defenders and a hybrid back three/five. Christian Bolaños is their most dangerous player in midfield and Mexico might have a bit of trouble with him. Kickoff is at 10 p.m. ET from the National Stadium in San Jose, and you can catch the game on Telemundo.

Cuba Vs. Honduras, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score, Catrachos Crush Cubans

After losing at home to Panama in their 2014 World Cup qualifying opener, Honduras had no margin for error in the rest of qualifying. That meant they had to get three points against Cuba, even away, and on Friday they did just that in a 3-0 thrashing of the Cubans.

All three goals for the Catrachos came from players playing in MLS as Jerry Bengston opened the scoring in the 31st mnute, Victor Bernardez added a second in the 63rd inute and Marvin Chavez wrapped it up with a tally in stoppage time.

Beating Cuba isn't as easy as it may seem. They played Panama and Canada tough in their first two matches and only lost 1-0 in both. Honduras was no sure bet to get three points in Havana and they didn't just win, they looked excellent in doing so.

Honduras is now on four points in Group B, even with Canada and two points behind first place Panama. Canada and Panama square off tonight in Toronto. Cuba is at the bottom of the group without a point.
