Argentina Vs. Paraguay, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score, Albiceleste Win 3-1

Argentina are top of the table in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, thanks to Uruguay's loss on Friday, Chile's dormancy and the Albiceleste's win. They were fantastic in Cordoba against Paraguay, and came away comfortable 3-1 winners on the night.

Angel Di Maria opened the scoring just two minutes into the match with a great individual effort, completely throwing Paraguay off their counter-attacking gameplan. Incredibly, they were able to get back into the match thanks to a handball in the box by Rodrigo Braña, which gifted Paraguay a penalty. Jonathan Fabbro stepped up and converted to level the game at 1-1 in the 17th minute.

That was one of very few significant chances for Paraguay, and Argentina quickly went back to dominating the game. They reclaimed the lead 13 minutes later. with Gonzalo Higuain putting his side back on top.

Lionel Messi hit the post with a free kick shortly afterwards, but he had better luck with a similar free kick in the second half. He converted a stellar free kick goal in the 63rd minute, solidifying Argentina's lead and ensuring their victory.

Ecuador Vs. Bolivia, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score 1-0 In Dull Match

Ecuador have kept themselves in the running for a spot at the 2014 World Cup, though they did so in the most dull way possible. They had no answer for Bolivia's compact defense and midfield and lacked a striker to get on the end of anything their midfield sent into the penalty area. Fortunately for them, they won a penalty in the second half.

A 0-0 draw would have been a fair result in a boring game devoid of real scoring chances, but Ronald Raldes threw a point away for Bolivia when he brought down Luis Saritama in the box in the 70th minute. Substitute Felipe Caicedo buried the penalty to make it 1-0, and Ecuador held into that lead.

Otherwise, there wasn't much to the game, which is usually the case in Bolivia games unless Bolivia are able to score first. They played their normal negative road match and it almost paid off, but they got burned.

Colombia Vs. Uruguay, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Final Score A 4-0 Slaughter

Colombia are suddenly looking like a massive threat to crash the party in World Cup qualifying and snatch one of the top four slots in South America. They were at their best on Friday and they laid a complete beatdown on Uruguay. All of Colombia's players were at their best while Uruguay looked sluggish in a stellar 4-0 victory for the Cafeteros.

Radamel Falcao set the tone for the match two minutes in, scoring from close range off of a cross by Camilo Zuñiga. Aldo Ramires got nothing but air on his attempt to turn in the cross, but the ball fell to Falcao, who finished calmly. Colombia dominated the first half, but couldn't score a second goal before halftime.

It didn't take long for the home side to assert their dominance and take advantage of their opponents' shortcomings in the second half. Twice in a four-minute period, James Rodriguez set up Teo Gutierrez for goals, putting Colombia 3-0 up by the 51st minute. At that point, Uruguay looked completely devastated and the match was all but over. Zuñiga added the exclamation point, scoring a brilliant goal in stoppage time.

Colombia Vs. Uruguay, 2014 World Cup Qualifying: Halftime Score 1-0, Falcao Goal Has Cafeteros Up

It's been a stellar 45 minutes of football for Colombia, who are milking their fantastic home crowd for all they're worth. They appear to have much more energy in their legs than their more talented Uruguayan opponents, and they lead their World Cup qualifier 1-0 at the halftime break.

Radamel Falcao, who seemingly scores every time he touches the ball in the penalty area these days, scored the game's first goal after just two minutes of play. Camilo Zuñiga set up the goal with a cross into the box, which Aldo Ramirez completely whiffed on. Fortunately for Colombia, that caused the ball to fall to Falcao, who finished first time from 10 yards.

If it weren't from some assertive play by Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and some unlucky poor touches in the final third by usually classy Colombian attackers, the home side's lead would be much bigger. It's worth noting that Uruguay are without Luis Suarez at the moment, and it shows. Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan don't look terribly dangerous without their partner in crime.
