We should have known it would be happening sooner or later, but plans are already in the works to make a Joe Paterno movie. In the most obvious Hollywood casting since Arnold Schwarzenegger played Conan the Barbarian, JoePa is set to be played by none other than Al Pacino.
According to Mike Fleming of Deadline, Pacino is attached to a movie package based around Joe Posnanski's recent biography, entitled Paterno. The film, if sold, would revolve around Paterno's life, but would notably focus on the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
This could end up being okay, but the track record has shown that, since about Glengarry Glen Ross, Pacino pretty much phones it in for any role that's not a made-for-HBO project. Let's all cross our fingers on this one that it won't be too sensationalized. What am I saying? Of course it will be.
Fire up the outrage machines, because this one could get ugly.
