Johnny Manziel gets backhanded compliment from Oklahoma DC Mike Stoops

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops had an odd compliment for Heisman-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.

After Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel torched Oklahoma for 516 total yards and four touchdowns in a 41-13 Cotton Bowl win for the Aggies, it's not surprising that Sooners defensive coordinator Mike Stoops may hold a little ill will toward the Heisman winner. On Friday, Stoops offered up a bizarre backhanded compliment for Manziel:

Well, at least Stoops didn't sugarcoat his feelings or anything.

Manziel put up incredible numbers on his way to winning the Heisman. He led the SEC in rushing with 1,410 yards and 21 touchdowns, and he completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,706 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Oklahoma's defense was pretty good for most of the year, but it had trouble against offenses with dynamic quarterbacks. The Sooners allowed the Aggies to roll up 633 yards, and West Virginia, led by Geno Smith, gained a whopping 778 yards in a 50-49 win over OU.
