The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed winger Joffrey Lupul to a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.
Lupul is in the final year of a four-year contract, after being traded to the Leafs from the Anaheim Ducks in 2011. Lupul enjoyed a career season in 2011-2012 with 25 goals and 42 assists in 62 games for the Leafs, after potting just 14 goals in 54 games the season prior.
Drafted No. 7 overall in 2002 by Anaheim, Lupul made his NHL debut in 2003 and scored four goals in one game during the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2006. Lupul was traded to the Edmonton Oilers and then the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006 and in 2007 before being traded back to the Ducks just prior to the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
In 515 NHL games, the 29-year old has 151 career goals and 172 assists, as well as 14 goals and 23 points in 39 career playoff games.
