The Flyers forward will face a disciplinary hearing with Brenden Shanahan following his hit on the Devils' Anton Volchenkov.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Brayden Schenn will be the first to face vice president of player safety Brenden Shanahan this season, after this hit on Anton Volchenkov on Tuesday:
Schenn was not penalized on the play, although it appeared he launched himself off his feet and possibly made contact with Vochenkov's head. The hearing with Shanahan will take place on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET, according to TSN.
Drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2009, Schenn was traded to the Flyers in June, 2011 along with Wayne Simmonds in exchange for Mike Richards and Rob Bordson. Schenn made his NHL debut with the Flyers in the 2011-2012 season, scoring 12 goals and adding six assists in 54 games. This will be the first time that Schenn has faced a disciplinary hearing and it will be the first this season following the NHL lockout.
The Flyers lost to the Devils, 3-0, and are now 0-3-0 to start the season after losses to the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins.
