NHL lockout over: See those words come out of Gary Bettman's mouth

Watch Gary Bettman tell you the lockout is over. Don Fehr, too.

After 113 days, the NHL lockout is over. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr met with the media in Manhattan well after 4 a.m. ET, looking tired and haggard and who cares how they looked?! Hockey is going to be a thing again.

"We have reached an agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement, the details of which need to be put to paper," Bettman said, mercifully. "We've got to dot a lot of I's, cross a lot of T's, there's still a lot of work to be done, but the basic framework of the deal has been agreed upon."

"Any process like this, in the system that we have, is difficult," Fehr added. "It can be long. I've said repeatedly throughout this process that, somebody would say 'What do you see ahead?' and the answer was 'You get up tomorrow and try to find a way to do it.' And you keep doing that until you find a way to succeed. As Gary has just indicated, we have the framework of a deal."

The deal still needs to be ratified by both the NHL's Board of Governors and the full group of NHL players, but that's not expected to be a hurdle. You don't hold a 4 a.m. press conference otherwise.
