Amid reports that the Maloof brothers were close to reaching an agreement to sell the Kings to a Seattle-based group for $500 million, the Sacramento Bee is reporting that talks have merely been "conceptual." Here's what one source told the paper:
"If someone was to put a crazy number on the table, their perspective could change," he said. "If somebody like a (Chris) Hansen (the head of the Seattle group) were to actually make an offer, which hasn't happened yet, and that offer was ridiculous, things could change."
The Kings declined to comment. Keep in mind that this source is likely close to the Maloofs and has little interest in suggesting the deal is close to done at this point.
Meanwhile, Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson put this out on his Twitter account.
Bottom line Sacramento: it's not over... #keepthefaith #playingtowin
