Michael Kidd-Gilchrist taken off court on stretcher

The Charlotte Bobcats' rookie was hit in the head and remained motionless on the court for a considerable amount of time.

The Charlotte Bobcats suffered a serious scare on Saturday night as they played the Houston Rockets. Rookie forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was hit in the head while attempting to block a fast-break shot, which knocked him to the floor.

Kidd-Gilchrist remained motionless for nearly 15 minutes as he was loaded onto a stretcher and taken off the court. The Houston crowd gave a roaring ovation as he was taken back towards the locker room. Kidd-Gilchrist was unable to move.

Not much is known about the extent of Kidd-Gilchrist's injury as about 10:20 p.m. ET. Initial reports believed he might have suffered a neck injury, although that is purely speculation at this point. It was a very scary moment in Houston. Here is a photo of MKG in a neck brace from @AboveLegit.

On the season, Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and nearly two assists a night.
