Ever wonder what happened to Texas A&M in its 59-57 nailbiter against Louisiana Tech in October? Linebacker Jonathan Stewart thinks the movie Argo may have had something to do with it.
"Argo's supposed to win an Oscar," Stewart asked. "I do remember seeing that one the night before we played Louisiana Tech."
Did they find any inspiration in the suspense of trapped Americans being rescued during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis?
"Probably hurt us," he said. "It was a very high scoring game. Defensively that is not what you want at all."
He did think that Affleck probably should have at least gotten a nomination for the Best Director statue.
Stewart and his Aggie teammates saw another movie the night before their 41-11 beatdown of Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.
"I don't remember what it was," he confessed. "It was a pretty good movie. It was an action movie." Whatever it was, Stewart noted that it was not Oscar-worthy.
