Lobos guard Kendall Williams went on a scoring spree to down the Rams in the final minutes.
In a high-powered Mountain West shootout, New Mexico outlasted Colorado State 91-82. Lobos guard Kendall Williams finished with 46 points to run the Rams off their home court. The game was neck-and-neck most of the way, with Colorado State holding a slight lead late in the second half. But Williams could not be denied, shooting 12-16 from the field and 10-13 from 3-point range.
Both teams scored in bunches, with three CSU players cracking 20 points. Colton Iverson led the way for the Rams, scoring 26 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Wes Eikmeier added 22 and Dorian Green had 20, including four of eight from downtown.
Lobos center Alex Kirk excelled on both ends of the floor, nearly notching a double-double with 19 points and 9 rebounds to go along with six blocked shots. The win gives New Mexico a two-game lead over Colorado State in the Mountain West Standings with four games left on the schedule. The 23-4 Lobos are now 10-3 in the conference and face San Diego State on Wednesday.
