Johnson was injured during Saturday night's 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues, appearing to injure his right shoulder during a collision with Blues forward Patrik Berglund in the first period. Coach Todd Richards stated after the game that he would expect Johnson to be ready to play on Sunday night in Chicago; apparently the injury was worse than originally thought.
The Blue Jackets defenseman, acquired from the Los Angeles Kings in the Jeff Carter trade last February, has one goal and eight points in 17 games this season while averaging more than 26 minutes of ice time per game. Columbus has struggled this season and fell to 5-11-2 on the season after Saturday's loss, and are now without Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and and Johnson.
The Jackets, who play in Chicago on Sunday night, recalled center Ryan Johansen from the AHL to fill the available roster spot.
