Super Bowl 2013 commercials: Subway celebrates 15 years of Jared's diet

Wesley Hitt

Subway's first Super Bowl commercial since 2005 congratulates Jared Fogel for keeping the weight he lost as a result of the "Subway diet" off for 15 years.

New Year's Day 2000 introduced us to a new millenium, but also introduced us to the first-ever Subway commercial to feature Jared Fogle, the man who used a diet of Subway sandwiches to loose a significant amount of weight starting in 1998.

Jared, as he simply became to be known, has been a visible part of Subway's marketing campaign ever since, and for Super Bowl 47, the sandwich chain is celebrating Jared's 15th anniversary of his diet with the regular crop of Subway celebrity endorsers each sending their congratulations Jared's way.

Brian Baumgartner of "The Office," speed skater Apolo Ohno, Anaheim Angels outfielder Mike Trout, FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer, Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards are among the celebrities retelling Jared's story and congratulating him in the spot.

The spot is Subway's first ad during the Super Bowl since 2005, according to AdAge.
