Columbus Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky will face a supplemental discipline hearing on Wednesday with NHL vice president of player safety Brenden Shanahan, reports Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers blog.
Dubinsky received a boarding major and game misconduct penalty for his devastating hit on Rob Scuderi of the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night, that left the Kings defenseman dazed and sporting one heck of a shiner after the game.
At 11:29 of the second period with the Blue Jackets trailing the Kings 3-2, Dubinsky caught Scuderi behind the net with a hit right into the numbers that sent the defenseman face-first into the boards. Mike Richards took exception to the hit, which left Scuderi crumpled on the ice, as he took on Dubinsky in a rather spirited fight.
You can see the fight below, with the hit shown at the 1:00 mark.
Richards was hit with 19 minutes in penalties, including an instigating penalty and a major for instigating while wearing a face shield.
