Things got testy early between the Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche, as Patrick Bordeleau and Brad Staubitz got into a pretty decent fight out of nowhere off a faceoff.
Well, as the video shows, it wasn't totally out of nowhere. Bordeleau was obviously looking for a fight, skating right into Staubitz's grill as they set up near the boards. And yet when Staubitz responds with a less-than-friendly shove, Bordeleau reacts as if the Duck had acted totally out of line.
"Whoa, what the heck? What the heck was that?" He looks incredulous. Staubitz obliges his request to fight, almost halfheartedly, and immediately gets introduced to Bordeleau's right fist. Multiple times. It was a pretty clear-cut win for Bordeleau, who earns our respect for his earnest pursuit of fisticuffs but should probably drop the "surprised" act while on the hunt.
At any rate, the win didn't do much to inspire his teammates, who now trail Anaheim by two goals at the end of the first period.
