Jason Zucker injury: Wild forward skates Wednesday, doubtful against Avalanche

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

Jason Zucker was at the receiving end of a punishing blow from Corey Perry on Tuesday night. He was able to skate Wednesday but is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Avalanche.

Minnesota Wild forward Jason Zucker was able to skate in a track suit following the team's optional practice on Wednesday.

Zucker was at the receiving end of what was deemed a "late, illegal" check from Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry on Tuesday night, which resulted in a four-game suspension by the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Despite his condition on Tuesday night, head coach Mike Yeo stated that it was a good sign that Zucker was able to skate so soon after the incident. Asked by Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune if Zucker had sustained a concussion on the play, Yeo responded that he didn't believe the 21-year-old forward would be allowed to skate if he had.

As of Thursday morning, it doesn't appear Zucker will be available for Thursday night's game against the Colorado Avalanche. If he is unable to play, Yeo stated that Pierre-Marc Bouchard would dress in his place. Bouchard has been scratched in three straight games.
